Exclusive – Camier to contest final two World Superbike Rounds

Newly crowned 2009 British Superbike Champion Leon Camier will contest the final rounds of the World Superbike Championship on board the factory Aprilia RSV4. Camier sorted a deal this morning (Friday 2nd October) to partner the experienced Max Biaggi at Magny Cours this weekend and the final round at Portimao on the 23rd – 25th October.

Camier is extremely excited about this new prospect saying “I’ve had a great season so far with the Airwaves Yamaha team and they have allowed me to be temporarily released from my GSE contract and I’m very grateful they’ve done that. I couldn’t have asked for more from the Airwaves Yamaha team this year for support, backing and knowledge and winning the Championship for them was a dream come true and they deserve it for all their hard work and dedication.

The next two World Superbike rounds provide me with a new challenge in my career and hopefully will give me the chance to prove myself in the super tough World Superbike class. I’ve been talking with Aprilia since I won the BSB Championship about replacing the injured Nakano and now it’s finally happening. I’m a bit nervous as I’ve never ridden at either circuit but it’s certainly something I’m really looking forward to and it will be good to see how I get on. I’d just like to thank everyone who has allowed me to do this and to get this far and just hope I can get some consistent results for them.”
