Qualifying - Portimao

Leon qualified in 13th position today for tomorrow’s two World Superbike races at Portimao. After some bike changes to the Aprilia and managing to get out on a qualifying tyre Leon was able to take nearly two seconds off his time from yesterday and will start three places higher on the grid than what he did at Magny Cour.

Despite being held up on one of his fastest laps after Kagayama making a mistake Leon was within 1.2 seconds of pole sitter Spies and is eager to get two consistent top ten finishes tomorrow.

Commenting he said “We made a lot of progress today with the bike and it’s beginning to feel really good. I am happy with the time I managed to put in and a couple of tenths and I would have been fifth! We have a few more small things to change on the bike for warm up in the morning and then we should be good to go! I just want to get two solid results for the team and hope I can do that.”
